Tomayto, Tomahto (Or Names Do Matter)

Tomayto, Tomahto (Or Names Do Matter)

On the final day of last year, I shared the first part of a series of writings on the glorious Paul Robeson tomato. If you’re interested, you can take a look here. The meat of it was to talk history through the medium of food.

Chitlins Anyone?

Chitlins Anyone?

Chitins ’ Anyone? When I think of chitterlings, or rather “chitlins”, I automatically think of my mom, an aunt, and my sister. My sister, Rita, cooks chitlins on special occasions for family and friends. She stirs the chitlins for hours while I kid her about

A Korean BBQ in the Park

A Korean BBQ in the Park

During the last year, many of our family traditions have been placed on pause. Christmas 2021, was such an occasion! With 70 degree weather on Christmas Day, we carried the holiday meal to an outdoor pavilion at one of the Georgia State parks. We brought out the holiday tablecloth, the Korean electric grill, and all of the accoutrements to make Christmas 2021 one of the most exciting, delicious, and unexpected Christmases we’ve experienced! Delectable aromas wafted through the air, as the sun glistened on the lake, and we waited patiently for food to come off the grill.

Challenges teach us to be resourceful. They also remind us to be grateful. Cheers to Christmas 2021!!!

The Grass is Indeed Greener

The Grass is Indeed Greener

I looked outside tonight when we retired upstairs around 11:30pm. About six deer had invited themselves to dinner. As they grazed on the grass, I watched them in fascination while they huddled together, serving themselves the tender grass that we had recently planted. They ate

Celebrating Our 54th Wedding Anniversary at Little Alley Steak ATL

Each year becomes more special. Who could imagine that those two eighteen year young people would have a life filled with 54 years of marriage and 5 years of on and off “going together” prior to that? Here we are now with a lifetime of experiences.

On this day we celebrate our love and blessings at Little Alley Steakhouse. Celebrating with love ones, we shared an evening of abundance. There was lots of laughter, remembrances, delicious food, detailed service and so much joy. As we count the years, we also count our good fortune.

Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing

Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing

My grandmama was named Lillian and every time I see lilies, I am wrapped up in her warm embrace. With the exception of my mom, no one has taught me more about the pleasure of food and sharing it with others.  One of my most
