About Claudette (Mom)

Love Cooking and I Can Cook!!!!

I have been cooking long before I knew that cookbooks existed. Sixty plus years ago, long before I laid eyes on a cookbook, I watched my mother in the kitchen creating mouthwatering food for our family. She never owned a cookbook, but she could cook. I didn’t actually learn how to cook from my mother, but I was inspired by her abilities. She made it seem so easy, I just thought that I could cook. I look back now at the 14-year old me, cooking turnip greens for the first time, and not knowing that I needed to wash the greens several times first. Needless to say, the greens turned out gritty!

I love presenting or being presented with beautiful food.  As a child, I enjoyed seeing my grandmother Tucker’s table set with her beautiful china.  I would look in awe at the varying sized plates, cups, gravy dishes, and tureens.  The table would be gorgeous. Those impressions have stayed with me all of my life. It gives me joy seeing and creating beautiful tablescapes.

My love for cooking has been further enhanced by having traveled to faraway lands. I have sat at tables all over the world.  I’ve experienced different cultures, cuisines, and observed the people. I have come away with respect and appreciation.

I cook because it allows me to be creative. I cook because I like sharing. I cook because it brings me joy!

I look forward to collaborating with Erika in sharing with you food ideas, culinary experiences, recipes, and helpful food tips.

Come along with us on our food exploration. We aim to share love, laughter and joy.

Cheers,

Claudette
